Lately/Ben's Birthday

Hello there. I fear I developed some sort of strep throat last night at work and am stuck inside all day. It's not so bad I suppose, the weather outside is a bit cloudy, but it still sucks staying inside all day on one of my rare days off.

I've been loving New Hampshire so much recently and really feel like I have created a home here, but I do miss my sweet home Chicago as well. I am really looking forward to going back to the midwest soon! I'm also looking forward to taking to Ben to his first music festival (North Coast Music Fest) and to the Renaissance Faire as well. My mom used to take my brother and I every year when we were kids and it was so a whimsical, magical place. I said something to Ben about it recently and he was very surprised I knew about it. I guess our little festival is pretty well known and Ben has always wanted to go! Naturally as soon as he said he was interested we bought some tickets and spent the afternoon looking at pictures of the festival and discussing our favorite aspects of the Medieval Times.

Needless to say, I'm quite excited to return, though New Hampshire will be greatly missed. In the mean time, here are some pictures of our New Hampshire life as of lately.

Ben took me on the sweetest date to The Six Burner Bistro. It was a real grown-up date with a bottle of wine and three courses. We got all dressed up and had so much fun being on the other side of the table for once!

Happy Birthday Ben!

Dearest Ben,
Happy 22nd birthday. You are the sweetest, most considerate and loving person I have ever known and you make everyday we share together filled with laughter and adventure. I feel so blessed to have a partner as loving as you and I can't wait to celebrate this year together.
Love you always,
Lisa

mermiads

The crystal clear waters of our favorite river had to be remembered.
We took deep breaths and became mermaids.

bits and bits (traveling to Vermont)

This is the Indian Head Mountain in Lincoln, New Hampshire we stopped to check out.

This place was so cool! This is Littleton, New Hampshire and they had pianos and guitars set up all around the streets for people to pick up and play. It was so much fun and such a cute idea for a town.

After we played some of the instruments, i noticed a guitar store behind us and Ben and I went in. Since my original birthday present for him had accidentally been exposed (he looked at my phone when my friend was texting me about the longboard I was going to buy him) I offered to buy him a guitar. He picked out a bright yellow one and has been playing it happily ever since. :)

Wedding!

So Ben and I just got back from his cousin Darcy's wedding in Vermont. It was so much fun! I really love going to weddings and Darcy and her husband Orestes are so sweet and welcoming.

Last Friday Ben and I drove up to Stowe, Vermont which was where the wedding was held. I very much enjoy the car trips we take around the north east because it's very different than where I'm from and where I've traveled in the country (mostly I've explored out west and some of the southwest). Everything is so green here and the roads just seem to wind endlessly through valleys and mountains.

We did make a few stops along the way to check out some of the small towns. I'll post more pictures about those specific places later.

The guitar I bought Ben for his birthday. :)

After the rehearsal dinner, we had a bonfire. Darcy told me she wanted to recreate what high school parties in Vermont were like. From hanging out with Ben and his hometown friends, I have to say, bonfires are a big deal around here. At first, I wasn't so sure about smelling like campfire the next day, but I've come to love them.

The wedding itself took place at 4:00 in the afternoon and it was hot. Thankfully, the ceremony only lasted about ten minutes. At one point I looked over at Ben (who was wearing a full suit in that 100 degree weather) and I thought he had tears streaming down his face--turns out it was just sweat.

Ben and his family!

Such a good idea!

This was Oreste's best man. He was ridiculous. He put on an amazing show/speech that had the whole crowd laughing. He was one of my favorite parts of the whole wedding.

One thing I kind of noticed about this wedding was the crazy amount of attention these two got. Even as I was snapping away at this picture, I noticed that everyone else was too. It seemed like a lot of pressure, but they handled it well.

my lover :)

I wish them both the best! Cheers!
Lisa
